Making The Calories Count

CURVES Umhlanga

The ladies of CURVES gym have already proved themselves to be stalwart supporters of Durban North-based NPO Indlela but this year they outdid themselves with a truly impressive donation of three tons of non-perishable foods. Each year CURVES from all over South Africa are challenged to embark on a food drive for the needy. For the month of May, CURVES waiver the joining fee for new members and ask that they bring in a shopping bag full of non-perishable foods instead. This has been greatly received by all members as ladies from both CURVES Umhlanga AND Durban North teamed up to donate about three tons of food stuffs to Indlela. A group of volunteers from COGS gathered in the Church hall to sort through the mountain of tins, packets and boxes, separating it into food groups before making up generous parcels to be distributed to the hungry in our community.

“The book of James instructs us to show our faith through acts of loving kindness,” explains Mickey Wilkins, Chairman of Indlela, “and we hope that the recipients of these food parcels will feel loved when they open them.”
