Last September, local transport company, Freighthaul Holdings, embarked on a relationship with Domino Business Development, a company fully owned by The Domino Foundation. This Durban North-based NPO took a 25.1% share in Freighthaul as the black shareholder. Freighthaul’s Managing Director, Dave Botha, says, “With contracts in Nelspruit and Gauteng and in view of the new B-BBEE codes’ requirements, we were keen to embrace the transformation process and to take on a black shareholder representing the most disadvantaged. And these are exactly the people The Domino Foundation is impacting”. Buoyed by their new vision and ownership profile, Freighthaul purchased three new Freightliner Haulers, bringing their complement to ten. As year-end approaches, Dave forecasts a growth in turnover and earnings and anticipates releasing a significant dividend to their new shareholder. As a Domino Life Skills field worker, Sifiso Hlongwa has spent seven years in his community in Amaoti. He is now Sales Representative for Domino Business – “I enjoy the business world and working with customers like Freighthaul. The skills I have learned as part of the Domino team have prepared me for this new season in my life in making a difference in disadvantaged people’s lives.”
