She was making no pretence of trying to master the intricacies of the Sword Dance, Seann Truibhas or the reel, but Debbie Nel was determined to show some nifty footwork on the rebounder at the annual Highlands Gathering. An energetic volunteer with The Domino Foundation, she had organised a clutch of the mini trampolines, sponsored by Pam Kuhl from Skinny Yes Toti, as part of the fund-raising activities at the NPO’s stand. “I am passionate about being involved with community outreach. Domino’s Nutrition programme operates a kitchen in Doonside making thousands of high-protein sandwiches every year for school learners and supplying porridge for almost 2000 pre-schoolers in the 31 crèches partnering with the programme.”

Encouraging visitors to the stand to participate in a spot of low-impact activity and contribute to funding the efforts to impact the children impacted by the programme, Debbie added that community members interested in being part of changing the lives of underserved people can contact Domino’s leader in the Toti area, Cheryl Dann,
at nutritionsouth @ domino.org.za.
