It was a day of making some great board decisions. Bread boards were the order of the day as the staff of the Canway (Pty) Ltd Plant at Southgate Business Park tackled the only action item on the agenda: making peanut butter sandwiches for The Domino Foundation’s South Nutrition programme which operates out of Kingsway Church International (KCi), Doonside.
Quorums of eager appliers-of-spread-to-bread kept to the motion that the sandwich drive would yield a good quantity of the high-protein items. When the meeting adjourned, after much laughter and fun, 575 of them had been assembled and packed for dispatch.
After the boardroom had reclaimed its usual sedate atmosphere, organiser of the drive, Christine Herman, commented: “We are longtime champions of what Domino is doing in the communities in the Toti area. Their partnering with Early Childhood Education centres and other schools ensures that around 3000 young people are getting good nutrition during their school day.”
Cheryl Dann, leader of Domino’s Nutrition South Durban team, invited any other groups keen to be part of feeding the community’s younger generation to contact her at nutrtionsouth@domino.org.za.
