A local version of the adventure reality series came to Durban North with Alex Forbes’ corporate “Amazing Race”. One of the points along the trail for the eight teams of four were the offices of The Domino Foundation. Entry was only allowed once each team member produced a litre of milk for the NPO’s Red Light programme. The venue was a clue or treasure destination for the cohort from the insurance group, with the object of having all leave as Domino Ambassadors having learnt about how the NPO’s seven programmes are impacting thousands in local communities, changing one life at a time…what is called the #DominoEffect.
Participants were hosted by the Domino Quiz-mistress, Karen Brokensha, who handles all things marketing at the Adelaide Tambo Avenue offices and who tasked them with discovering core information on each of the programmes during their three hours on site. The challenge was to reach a set bar in their answers and then to make a commitment to becoming Domino Ambassadors and being part of the #DominoEffect.
At the 15-minute Domino stop-off before the Alex Forbes participants raced to the next port-of-call, one participant commented: “It wasn’t just a time of team-building and camaraderie. We were so pleased to understand how Domino has been working into the lives of marginalised people over the past twenty years and that there are so many opportunities for the wider community to be change-makers with the Foundation.”
She encouraged other corporates to engage with Domino to help build brighter futures for underserved individuals and communities in get Ethekwini area. Karen can be contacted at marketing@domino.org.za for information how corporates can become part of the #DominoEffect.
