Up with the lark, (or more likely, with the hadedahs), a growing set of happy amblers and a sprinkling of more strenuous striders are taking to the pavement on Adelaide Tambo Drive in Durban North. They are on a New Year’s mission to build #Health, #Hope and #Happiness. This is a Term One activation between The Domino Foundation and HelpMe, a community security app which provides safety, and community and support service.

“We have organised these walks to happen every Tuesday between 6am and 8am through to 24 March for residents of Durban North (and beyond) to come and enjoy the fresh air, connect and get some gentle exercise as the same time,” said Domino’s Marketing Manager, Karen Brokensha, adding, “The time set aside for the walk is deliberately flexible so that the My2KWalk foot patrols can beat the heat, come after the school-run, or join the retired or remote-working crew who don’t have to clock in at the office.”

Karen invited keen walkers and talkers to gather at Domino House, 125 Adelaide Tambo Drive, and then set off on the kilometre-long walk to Kensington Square and another kilometre back in good company.

Charl Tostee, Operations Manager of HelpMe, encouraged the community to come and learn more about their free app for peace of mind, and learn about the good work being done by The Domino Foundation.

Pausing for a breather, three Dominating ladies (l. to r.: Cathy Whittle, Karen Brokensha and Lisa Doyle) have committed to the weekly “My2KWalk”
