Faith Whittle is proof of how taking the initiative can lead to great results ... #dominoEffect
When faced by enormous odds, people are often urged to have faith the size of a mustard seed. On two occasions, Jesus spoke about this seemingly insignificant embryonic stage of a shrub which eventually grows up to 10 metres high...from something that measures a mere 1-2 millimetres in diameter! He issued the challenge to doubters that if they had faith even that small, nothing would be impossible for them. He also said that despite its miniscule size, it grows into a tree providing a home for many birds.
True to her name, Faith Whittle, swam last month’s aQuellé Midmar Mile to raise funds towards the roof renovation project of The Domino Foundation’s Babies’ Home and saw R7,060 coming in from well-wishers. Considering the daunting R1.3 million needed, she quipped, “It was just a drop in the ocean…well, actually the Midmar Dam!” but the story of her valiantly taking the plunge stirred others to action. In the month since the iconic swimming event, generous givers contributed a further R1 075 000, making a grand total of R1 082 080 to date. “From small beginnings big things come and we are more than two thirds of the way there!” exclaimed Karen Brokensha, Domino’s Marketing Manager. She encouraged willing and able partners to invest into this legacy building at the Babies’ Home which, over 21 years, has provided a place of safety, nurture and love to the more than 170 infants and toddlers who have found their “forever” adoptive families while there.
